Linda Chen is a college teacher in southwest China. Her love for English language was ignited at 12 reading Gone with the Wind. She was fascinated by the heroine Scarlett O’Hara who was independent, perseverant and lovely. Being capable of reading original English novel became her long-time pursuit. Since language is a carrier for thoughts and culture, language learning is inseparable from cross-cultural communication. In a thread on Forum of CLM entitled Wonderful Summer Camp for Kids from Quake Affected Area, I related my unforgettable experience in a summer camp sponsored by Seedling Project group. In the past weekend, a foreign friend, Miss C, who I got to know in the camp and who became a close friend to me, invited me to go back to the area with her. I like travelling and I’ve been to a lot of scenic spots here in China. On August 8-10, I went to Mount Wuyi. The Wuyi Mountains are a mountain range located at the prefecture Nanping, at the northern border of Fujian province with Jiangxi province, China. The mountains cover an area of 60 km². In 1999, Mount Wuyi entered UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites, both natural and cultural. It is the most outstanding biodiversity conservation zone of Southeast China. Numerous types of tea are produced around Mount Wuyi; it is the origin of the real Da Hong Pao tea. Read more…
